At Google I/O 2026, Google unveiled Gemini 3.5 Flash alongside Gemini Omni, introducing upgrades across Search, Android, and developer tooling. According to Google, the new Gemini 3.5 Flash model outperforms Gemini 3.1 Pro on coding and agentic benchmarks at less than half the cost of competing frontier models. Developers and enterprise users can access the model immediately through Google AI Studio, Android Studio, and the Google Antigravity platform.
Gemini 3.5 Flash Accelerates Agentic Workflows
Gemini 3.5 Flash combines frontier-level intelligence with high-speed execution, placing it in the top-right quadrant of the Artificial Analysis index, per Google. The model is optimized for long-horizon agentic tasks, such as maintaining codebases, building applications, and auditing complex financial documents.
Google published several performance metrics highlighting the model's capabilities:
- Terminal-Bench 2.1: 76.2%
- GDPval-AA: 1656 Elo
- MCP Atlas: 83.6%
Google has also integrated Gemini 3.5 Flash as the default engine behind AI Mode in Google Search. The company said Search queries in AI Mode have doubled every quarter since launch and currently serve over 1 billion monthly users.
Multimodal Video Generation via Gemini Omni
Alongside 3.5 Flash, Google launched Gemini Omni, a real-time generative media model designed to process diverse inputs and generate video outputs. The system incorporates physical reasoning—including fluid dynamics, kinetic energy, and gravity—to improve scene continuity and photorealism, according to Google.
Gemini Omni Flash is rolling out to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers through the Gemini app and Google Flow. It is also available at no cost in YouTube Shorts Remix, letting users insert visual references or create custom AI avatars. Google says all media generated by Omni automatically embeds its SynthID digital watermark for verification across Search, Chrome, and the Gemini app.
Autonomous Agents and Smart Commerce
Google also detailed Gemini Spark, an autonomous personal AI agent built on Gemini 3.5 and the Antigravity platform, designed to complete digital tasks in the background under user direction.
For enterprise and consumer workflows, Search now supports Generative UI powered by Antigravity, which builds custom layouts, interactive visual tables, and tracker mini-apps on the fly. Google also introduced Universal Cart, an AI-powered shopping hub across Search, YouTube, and Gemini that monitors price history, flags product incompatibilities, and facilitates checkout using the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP).
